Lesson 2.

Glossary of Terms used by Mystery Shoppers and Mystery Shopping Companies.

 

In Lesson 1 we learned what Mystery Shopping Companies expect Mystery Shoppers to provide. In this lesson we are going to define the various terms ad definitions as used in Mystery Shopping Industry.

Address The street address, City, State and Zip Code.
Assignment See Mystery Job
Auditor See Mystery Shopper
Contact Information A link that you can use to contact your scheduler with questions about the shop; usually via Email.
Do Not Shop before Date You can perform the shop on that day, but never earlier.
Due Date The Last Date you can perform the shop.
Evaluator See Mystery Shopper
Fee  The amount that you will be paid if you correctly complete the shop and on time.
Flake What a scheduler calls a Mystery Shopper who accepts an assignment and then does not perform. Schedulers have the power to delete your name from a Mystery Shopping Companies database.
Guidelines General Instructions pertaining to this assignment.
Landmark Some Mystery Shopping Companies will give you a landmark to make it easier for you to find your shop location.
Map Some Mystery Shopping Companies will provide you with a link to a map of the business.
MSPA Acronym for Mystery Shopping Professional Association.
Mystery Job Is what the Mystery Shopping Company will send to you if you are selected. With this assignment you receive Guidelines and instructions that you are expected to comply with. On the assignment form you will find the date and and time you are to complete the shop.  Most assignments have only one day and one time period that the shop can be performed. Others will allow a range of days for you to shop.
Mystery Shop See Mystery Job
Mystery Shopper Is a person who, for remuneration, shops a business without revealing himself to the employees. Mystery Shoppers are also known as Secret Shoppers, Evaluators or Auditors.
Mystery Shopping Company Is a company which has contracted with either the business being shopped itself or, in many cases, a supplier to that business. The Mystery Shopping Company is who hires you
Print Report A printer friendly report that you should print out and take with you to the shop. Never will you be allowed to take the printout with you into the store or business that you shop.
Reimbursement  The amount they will pay you for a required purchase.
Report Date The Date and time your written Report is Due.
Scheduler A person who works for a Mystery Shopping Company and whose primary job it is to assign jobs to Mystery Shoppers and make sure the job gets done. Most are employed by a Mystery Shopping Company, however, many are self employed just like Mystery Shoppers and they will do what it takes to get the jjob done.
Secret Shopper See Mystery Shopper
Shop ID A unique number used to identify this assignment.
Store or Business Name The name of the establishment you are to shop.
View Report Provided so you can see what you have to report on, i.e. look for during your shop.
MSI See Mystery Shopping Company
